AIRLINER Pilot and Stewardess
Restored 1941 Merrill Book
What lovely artwork on the covers by polular pin-up artist, Merilin! The clothes are lovely as well, though painted by another unknown artist. The cover is cut-away to show the two good looking, well proportioned dolls. There are six pages of clothes for travel and after work enjoyment.
These paper dolls came out in 1941 when commercial air travel was just becoming acceptable by the average American traveler, so it served to make airline travel look fun and safe, and encourage flying. But when WWII hit very shortly after this book was released, all commercial production stopped and airline manufacturers, and even automobile companies, went right to work producing military planes. Air travel at home was drastically curtailed, as fuel was at a shortage, but it all got back up to high speed as soon as the war was over.
Double covers are on 80# coverstock. Clothes on 32#. All archival, satin finish, easy to cut papers.
