THESE HOLLYWOOD PAPER-DOLL CUTOUTS
from Ladies Home Journal Sept. 1939
SOLD- kept here for reference
This is the authentic page, not a copy. It has a tear about 1.25 inches on the left side into the copy. The artwork is fine. She is one of a pair called "The Twins" but what I have for sale, is just the one page you see here. Funny thing, the other "twin" is a smaller child. (I do have a reduced size set of both dolls 8.5" x 11" as a reproduction)
LHJ sold clothing patterns and presenting them as paper dolls was a good way to sell them, and give gals a fun toy, while increasing their fashion awareness.
This particular doll I love, as it is like one my mom, Helen, had as a child. It was cut and well played with. She made many costumes for it too. And so did I, in the late 50s, when she let me play with some of her paper dolls.
Size 10.5 x 12.75" The white streaks you see, are from being the plastic bag and reflecting in the scan. The page is nice and clear.
