Judy M Johnson Art Print
About Town Series:
"Architectural Arches in Red Rock and Brick"
Old City Hall, Marquette Michigan
SIZE: 8.5" x 11"
This is an interesting detail in a very complex decorated old building in Marquette Michigan. It's the Old City Hall, which is now used as offices. The building is mostly built of what we familiarly call "Red Rock" which is technically, "Jacobsville Sandstone," quarried here in the Upper Peninsula in a town called Jacobsville in the Keweenaw Peninsula. It's the same stone called "Brownstone" which was shipped to, and used to construct hundreds of homes in New York City and Chicago around the turn-of-the-century. This sandstone not only makes fine building blocks, it can be nicely carved, and was done so all over this building, including over the main entry arch.
The detail I have picked to paint includes one of the prettiest features; the double arch which is intricately carved in sandstone. The building blocks show the light and dark streaks that naturally appear in the stone. Other details include red bricks, carved support brackets, and a pretty hanging light. The round support pillar is red polished granite, also quarried from this area.
I painted it on canvas using Rotring Artists Colors and Berol Prismacolors. Then scanned it and now printing it in laser inks on archival 80# cardstock. Each print is identified in small letters at the bottom of the image, and will be signed by me, the artist.
Sized to fit in an easy-to-find frame. It looks very good in a simple black document frame.
Will make a nice wedding or shower gift, or for a housewarming or hostess gift.
ONLY 50 WILL BE PRINTED
I'm offering this print in 3 sizes: 11" x 14" ($11), 8.5" x 11" ($8.50) and 5" x 7" ($5) Since I can't figure out how to do size choices on one page, I must list the sizes separately as a different product.
No extra international shipping charges will be incurred for the two smaller sizes, but the 11" x 14" size will run considerably more. Please inquire.
Your print will, of course, not have watermarks.
