One Page of Four Cut-and-Use Bookmarks
Designed by Judy M Johnson
Laser Printed on 100# Cardstock
I've had a little Japanese paper doll book for a long time, and never did anything with it. It's likely from the late 50s to early 60s. The set has a father too, but he must be at work, leaving Mother, Elder Sisters and Younger Sister at home to do their housely duties. (as shown here on the bookmarks.) There's a sewing maching, thread, scissors, and iron. A doll and toy bird accompany little sis. Mother is ready to entertain with tea, and go out as she has her purse at hand. They have both traditional and Western style garb.
I've looked up the true symbols for Family, Mother, Elder Daughters, Younger Daughter, and Doll. Near those I have put the words in English too. The background pattern is traditional Washi paper print. Pattern on pattern and riotous color is typical of Japanese design, so this is quite authentic. I've put wide white borders on all the elements to separate it visually from the colorful backgrounds...which are faded out a bit for clarity.
Four bookmarks are on one cardstock sheet, for you to cut out and use as they are, or to embellish with inks, sparkles, ribbons or other trims. 8.5" x 11" archival 80# paper, stored in a crystal clear seal-top bag.
