PAPER DOLL CRAFTING
Using Vintage Pattern Book Cuts
From Helen C Johnson

The one shown here is gone, but we can put together another collection similar to this one

My mom, Helen, is one of the best fancy-paper-cutters ever. She is also a super-organizer. She has done so many collections ready to cut or complete, she cannot possibly cut them all out.

Soooo, she is sharing some of them with you folks who love to cut out/create your own paper dolls the way we used to when we were kids....making them from catalogues and pattern books. Remember to cut tabs into the clothes. If you forget, you can make them out of Avery stickers cut into strips, folded back 2/3s and using the remaining sticky part to stick onto the back of the outfit.

If you like to draw costumes, you could expand your costume collection as much as you like. One outfit is compeltely cut out, and the doll is backed with a stiffer paper, and already cut out, ready to dress.

This particular collection has 34 pieces, (not all shown here) all sized to fit the main 10" doll. There's another gal with a lovely evening gown that could make a nice doll too. With some creative cutting, and adding tabs, you can make your own unique paper doll set. These cuts are mostly from 1980s pattern books...maybe a few back into the 70s or into the 90s.

What's great about these, is pattern books don't use original art much anymore...and it's so much more charming than photos. This will provide you with many hours of fun. We have just one set exactly like this one...though we are listing more sets.
