RIDE A PONY
Restored 1944 Merrill Book
Painted by Louise Rumely
Riding along with Hollywood's fascination with westerns came toys, books, games and paper dolls of the theme. The fad continued on through the 50s. Every kid studied Sear Roebuck, and Montgomery Ward catalogues and dreamed of having their own "real" cowboy or cowgirl outfits. A cheap alternative was to play and fantasize the characters with paper dolls.
This book is a charming version of the style. Beautifully painted as were all of Merrill's books, we have two cute kids (named Judy and Jerry...which coincidentally happen to be my name and that of my brother, both born in the late 40s) and eight pages of western gear. Not only do you have paper doll children, but you have two ponies to dress in their saddles too. The ponies names are Jill and Flash.
Finished book size is 8.5" x 11". All laser printed on archival top-grade, fine-grained, smooth-finish, easy-to-cut papers. Presented in a crystal clear archival seal-top bag.
