Restored 1941 Merrill Paper Doll
We must admit that this is more than a restoration. We have taken a poor quality aged paper doll book and invested over 12 hours into repainting and repairs, to make it look fresh and pretty again. We have also replaced the fuzzy dark photos inside the picture frames on each costume page with crisp "new" photos. A BONUS is two extra pages: each star now has a special Photo Gallery with some black and white and some color photos. Each star burned brightly, starring in many films, and then going out at young ages: She died from burns sustained in her apartment fire at age 42. He died of a massive heart attack while doing a vigorous sword fight scene in a film, at age 44. So they will always be young and beautiful in our memories and in their films.
There are 4 dolls with very good likenesses, on the two covers, one on back is a full-skirted doll to wear similar shaped gowns from the costume pages. There are film and everyday costumes for each star, with more for her. There are 8 pages of costumes as well, making ten inside pages, and the two covers. I know some of my customers who love making "regular" dolls into star dolls, will enjoy cutting out the heads to paste onto other dolls, and make new Star paper dolls.
This book came out at the same time as the popular Param0unt film, "Blood and Sand" so some of the costumes reflect the traditional Spanish bullfighter style. Others remind us of "Zorro," another film they made together, and some are actual clothes worn by the stars in their day to day lives.
If you can find a good uncut book of this, it would run $300-400! And if you DO have one, don't cut it out! Get this new version and cut it.
