Folk Costumes of the French Provinces
Redesigned from 1929 Fashion History Folio
by Judy M Johnson, Published by FMN
What a fabulous collection of colorful, intricately patterned costumes!! Judy found these gorgeous screen-printed folio pages of authentic folk costumes of provinces all over France. She meticulously altered them to fit two dolls; one from Rachel Taft Dixon's Folk Costumes of Europe, and one painted by Judy after Ms. Dixon's folk dolls.
The fashion plates were multi-layered screen printing, with a vibrant array of calicos, floral prints, plaids, stripes and textured solids, over-laid by skirts, blouses, aprons, shawls, and often topped by fabulously crafted hand made laces- each indicative of the province from whence it came. Some of the costumes are of workers and servants, some of wealthy women, and one bride.
There are EIGHTEEN different costumes for you to cut and dress the two dolls. Or just turn the pages and admire the colors and patterns. Judy has cloned some of the patterns and used them as borders on the pages, just for fun! This was a labor of love, taking about 30 hours to put together. We hope you like this project too.
This is a stapled BOOK. We are delighted to present this vintage restored/reprinted "perfect bound" (stapled) book from Forget-me-Not Publishing (FMN). These are 11”x17" sheets printed in permanent laser colors, on top grade papers, folded and stapled to a finished size of 8.5x11. Costume pages are on Bright white archival 32# laser paper. Covers are on archival 80# laser cover stock paper. These papers are a dream to cut...nice clean edges, no popping of inks, very smooth and fun to handle. We slip the book into a crystal clear archival protective Mylar sleeve to keep it nice and clean.
