Travels of the Shaker Salt Doll
Advertising Premium Paper Doll
Restored 1911 Set
An advertising premium from the Diamond Crystal Salt Company of St. Claire, Michigan.
We in Michigan heard our dads say they were "Off to the salt mines" when they went to work for the day. This stems from the fact that much of Detroit sits on a massive salt deposit, and several salt companies mined it for over a hundred years.
This should be a larger set with four pages, but the other two I had were so badly damaged I could not repair them. So we have the attractive cover, and two sheets of paper dolls; One is the King and Queen of England, the other is a young teen girl. One of her costumes is a clever design of her standing inside a salt shaker, forming a skirt.
Single cardstock pages (3), 8.5"x11" stored in a crystal clear seal-top bag.
