Restored Newspaper Paper Dolls
from the Boston Sunday Post
Suzanne and Estelle
By Lucy Eleanor Leary
These nicely drawn paper dolls used to be in the weekly editions of the Boston Sunday Post. The were originally rather large, spreading across about 1/3 of a bottom section of the page. I have rearranged the components to fit the vertical format of an 8.5" x 11" page.
"Restoring" newsprint art is much more than restoring...it's improving! Newspaper printing is rough, sloppy, and needs a great deal of work to make them sharp, bright and clean.
This pair are: Suzanne (Apple Picking) of Sept. 9, 1943
and Estelle (Christmas Theme) of Dec. 4, 1955
Each are all archival; laser printed on 80# coverstock, 8.5" x 11" and stored in a crystal clear seal-top bag.
