Restyled 1956 Paper Doll
Art by Hilda Miloche? or Kay Morrisey?
This charming book was a folder set with two heavy board dolls and big folded sheets of clothes. We have formatted it as an 8.5 x 11" book with dolls and clothes the same size as origiinal. Since the original was a "magic" static cling sort of paper doll, and we can't reproduce that, ours is an old-fashioned cut-it-out-yourself kind of book, with added tabs.
We've also added two more dolls, and changed the title from Magic Stay-On Clothes for Peter and Polly, to include the two addtional dolls. As each pair are in the very same pose but with different colorations, they wear the same clothes.
This book has double covers with the inside ones having lines where you can cut slots, glue around edges, and have pockets to slip in the cut pieces. The dolls are on a separate inserted page.
ARTIST? No credit given on the book. We at first thought it was a Hilda Miloche book..but this would have been more like her late 50s-early 60s harder-edge style. The dog looks just like the first Betsy McCall's dog, Nosy. and there's a red and white dress that is nearly identical to one of Betsy's from her first year in the magazine..and the style is consistent as well, with Kay Morrisey's, the first Betsy artist...so we made our best guess, and put Kay's name on the cover.
Dolls and double covers on 80# cardstock, inside pages on 32#. All archival, fine grained bright white papers. Stored in crystal clear seal-top bag. Finished books size- 8.5" x 11"
